Sun Valley

We have been trying to get up to Sun Valley with the Bordners for what seems like forever. I'm not really even sure why it took so long, but last weekend we finally made it! We all drove up to the valley on Friday evening with the kiddos and settled into my aunts beautiful home. Isla was beyond excited that she got to spend the WHOLE weekend with Payton:These two are best buddies:

Saturday morning we were greeted by a couple of elk roaming around in the river (sorry about the reflection of the flash in the picture - it was too cold to go outside to get a better shot):

Saturday Kirstin and I hung out with the kiddos in the morning and then headed up to the mountain to ski in the afternoon with the boys while Aunt Anna watched the kids for us. No photos of the skiing, but we had such a great time and got to ride up Baldy on the new gondola.

Thanks to Grandma Connie and Aunt Anna, the adults were able to have a fun night out on the town on Saturday night. We had some yummy sushi followed by some drinking (Aunt Anna joined us when the kids went to sleep):

Sunday the adults all tried to recover from the night before while watching the Seahawks getting blown out by the Bears (Ryan was very happy as he is a Bears fan - booo). I think we are going to have to make this a yearly thing with the Bordners - we had way too much fun!

A (Ske)Borney New Year’s

Do you like my blog title? I wouldn’t add the Ske for real (that’s why it’s in parenthesis) as the Borney name is sacred, I just thought it sounded funny. So the Borney’s (The Bordner’s + The Kearney’s) invited us over for some sushi and fun on New Year’s Eve.

The kids played, laughed, cried, and danced into the late hours while the adults ate, drank, laughed and had the best time. The Border’s put on an amazing sushi spread and taught us how to make it as well:

Thank you Borney’s for letting us crash your New Years’ Eve celebration – we had way too much fun. And paid for it the next day.

Christmas 2010 Recap 2 of 2

On Christmas day we packed up the kiddos and headed to Sun Valley to celebrate with some more family. Isla got to show off her cool new boots and Dora cup that she got from GiGi:

Grandma Connie gave Ryan and I the gift of a night out on the town without kids so we went out with the cousins to our usual haunts:

While Ryan and I were out playing, Isla got to play in her new sled and ski jacket that she got from Grandma and Papa Randy:

I realize that I don’t have many pictures of Drew this Christmas, typical second child treatment. I can promise you he had a wonderful Christmas.

Christmas 2010 Recap 1 of 2

What a bad blogger I have been – my sincerest apologies. I guess that is what you get when a mom of two little ones returns to work at one of their busiest times of the year. All my extra time, which is not much lately, has been dedicated to snuggling with my babies.

We had a great Christmas this year celebrating with our relatives and friends. We started Christmas week with the Hamilton’s hosting their friends for a cookie making party. Isla got to make cookies with all her little buddies:

There was also a visit from Santa at the party. Isla wanted absolutely nothing to do with him (I had to steal this picture from Molly):

Our next Christmas activity was Isla’s Christmas program put on by her daycare, R House. It was so much fun to see Isla run around with her little friends. I can’t believe how big she is getting, she is such a little girl now and is no longer my baby (well, she will always be my baby):

The entire month of December we have been practicing singing Christmas songs with Isla (i.e. Jingle Bells, Rudolph) and she is such a great singer. But when it came time to sing in front of all of the parents and relatives she had a little bit of stage fright. The little stinker just stared out at the audience and did not sing one song. She even looked back at her friends with a look like “who are you why are you singing these songs?”:

Our little Miss Isla did surprise us by sitting on Santa’s lap though. I think Miss Jessica’s promise of a candy cane may have had something to do with that:

Christmas Eve we had a relaxing night at home making dinner with my parents. Isla loves to help cook so she “helped” GiGi with the potatoes:

Drew just hung out with Papa, looking chubby and cute:

Christmas morning Isla was quite overwhelmed with all of her presents. She was done once she saw that Santa gave her play-doh in her stocking:

After awhile we finally convinced her to open the rest of her presents:

Pub Crawl & Christmas Tree

This weekend we went on our second annual pub crawl with our friends. This year we rented two party buses to take us to the bars, which turned out to be a great idea. I sort of wish we spent more time on the buses than in the bars. I unfortunately didn't take many pictures and these two were the only pictures I ended up with:

Ryan and I had a great time hanging out with our friends sans kids. I'm surprised we were able to stay out as late as we did!

Today we went and got our Christmas tree and put up our Christmas decorations. Isla did a wonderful job in helping me decorate the tree and the house:

Thanksgiving

For Thanksgiving this year we packed up the kids and traveled over to Bellingham to see my parents. We had all kinds of weather while we were there - sun, rain and snow. On Thanksgiving day we woke up to this outside:

and then three days later this was our view:

I seriously can't get enough of this view. We had a great time hanging out with the family - Drew even got to meet his namesake - cousin Drew:

And Isla got to hang out with some of her favorite people - Aunt Anna, Krista, and GiGi:

The only sad part of the weekend was watching Boise State lose to Nevada. I don't think Ryan will get over that loss for a long time. The loss didn't seem to upset Drew that much though - he is one smiley kid:
