Terrible, but girly Two's

We have definitely reached the terrible two stage with Isla and, seriously, they weren't joking when they called them "terrible". It has been a difficult past two months, but we have had our bright spots. One thing that has been fun is that she has developed into a bit of a girly-girl. Under no urging of mine she recently asked me to paint both her fingernails and her toenails. During the bath after her "pedicure and manicure" she was adamant that we did not touch her fingernails and toenails for fear that we would mess them up. She has begun to play with her dress-up clothes, loves to take her purse wherever we are going, and has taken an interest in her attire. This development has been sort of surprise to me as I am more of a tomboy than a girly-girl, but I am loving it all the same.

She also loves to brush my hair and Ryan's hair whenever she gets the chance. It is awesome watching her brush Ryan's hair because when she is done she says "Daddy, now look at me" and when Ryan turns to look at her she exclaims "oooh Daddy that is sooo cute."

This weekend the terrible two's continued, but so did Isla's love for all things girly. We were playing outside and when Isla noticed that I grabbed my camera. She instantly grabbed her sunglasses so she could have them on while I took her picture.

Striking a pose (notice the upside down sunglasses - didn't you know that this is new cool way to wear them?):
Showing off her sidewalk chalk (notice the shoes on the wrong feet - again the cool way to wear them now):
After I took these pictures, Isla insisted that she had to go inside to get something. I thought it was going to be her purse, but this is what she came out with:
Pearls, hat and gloves - why not? My favorite pose is below - whad up?
Oh Miss Isla you are definitely giving us a run for our money, but it's moments like this that make it all worth it!

First Haircut

About a month ago I decided that it was time for Isla to get her first haircut. She is almost 2.5 years old so I think she was due. I took her to a little place in Eagle that specializes in little kid haircuts as I had a feeling that Isla might throw a little fit and would need the distractions they offered. Turns out I was right. Once it was Isla's turn to get her haircut I lifted her up to put her in the chair/jeep and she clung on to me with a death grip. I seriously could not get her off me. The hair stylist, seeing the situation I was in, calmly told Isla that if she sat in the chair she would get a sucker. Isla practically leapt into the chair once she saw the sucker in her hand. Thank goodness!

I had brought my camera to take pictures of this event, only to find out that the batteries were dead. Thank goodness Aunt Anna was with us and had her fancy schmancy phone to take pictures.

Happy girl with her sucker:
She really liked the sucker:

And the finished product:
Complete with a new barrette and glitter in her hair.

Sibling Love

I caught this video of Isla and Drew last night. It is so exciting to finally see them interacting a bit:

Shower for Baby Kenney

Last weekend I met up with my girlfriends in Spokane to celebrate the upcoming birth of Sara's baby. This was one of my first "vacations" alone in a long time and as a result I became very lazy and didn't take many pictures. You will have to take my word for it that the shower was lovely, because it was, and I have no pictures to prove it. It was so nice being able to visit with my girlfriends and their babies as I hadn't seen them since Sara's wedding in July (yep, they are having a honeymoon baby!). Here is one of the only pictures I took this weekend, us girls (and baby Payton) getting ready to go to the shower:
I miss the girls more than you know and wish we all lived closer. I can't wait to meet baby Kenney when he/she makes their arrival!
