October 2016

October was filled with a lot of football and soccer - just as it should be.

Ryan and I escaped for a weekend to SLC to watch the Huskies beat Utah.  We even got up early to go to ESPN's College Game Day:
It was quite the scene.  This was my favorite sign of the day:
Lee Corso picked the right team to win:
We met up with my Dad and family friends, Rick & Eileen for some pre-game fun:
And I even got Ryan to wear a UW t-shirt for the game:
Halloween was crazy as we were trying to move out of our house for our kitchen remodel.  Thank goodness the kids decided to wear their costumes from last year - a cat and Marshall from Paw Patrol:

I love October in Boise - it's the best.  Drew and I enjoyed hikes by parents house to enjoy the foliage:

Isla turns 8!

I'm not exactly sure how I managed to do this, but I got out of throwing a birthday party for both my kids this year.  They never brought it up and due to our busy schedule neither did Ryan or I.  Score one for the parents.  I'm sure we will have to pay with an epic party next year.

This is the only picture I managed to get of our dear Isla Bean on her 8th birthday:
We had a nice evening at home with cake and presents which was nice after our crazy wedding weekend.  Not sure how I got so lucky to be this kid's Mom, but I'm so thankful that I am.  We love you Isla Bean Skene!

Drew turns 6!

Drew's birthday happened to be on the same day as cousin Krista's wedding this year so Drew got a big birthday party! Thank goodness as I didn't have a ton of time to prepare for his birthday this year with all of us being in the wedding party.

He woke up to donuts at Grandma's:
And then at the end of the night the wedding band sang him (and my other cousin's husband) happy birthday and gave him a cake with a big candle to blow out:
Thank goodness for them!  I think Drew felt pretty special to have about 200 plus people singing him Happy Birthday.

Happy 6th Birthday Drew man - you make us laugh every single day and have the kindest heart.  We love you so much!

September 2016

Our September consisted largely of celebrating my dear cousin, Krista, and her marriage to Chase. The weekend before the wedding I made a quick trip up to Stanley to spend it with Krista.  We had a magical time up hiking up to a beautiful lake:

After the hike we relaxed in some hot springs and I finally nailed a jumping photo:
We then danced the night away in Stanley and hung out with some wildlife:

I made a promise to visit Stanley more next summer - it is so beautiful:
The next weekend was filled with wedding activities, like the hike up Proctor mountain the day before the wedding:

And then on the wedding day getting ready with all the bridesmaids (and Hattie):
My babies served as the flower girl and ring bearer:

Krista really outdid herself with this party - it was amazing:

Ryan turns 40!

Well I'm officially married to an old guy.  Good thing for me that he is the best looking old guy I know.  True to Ryan's fashion he absolutely did not want a big party, but just a weekend away with good friends doing the things he loves most: fishing, golfing, drinking and eating (not necessarily in that order).

Let the weekend begin:
The first night we had to have dinner at the Pio:
The boys were super excited about it:
The birthday boy:
Sadly this was one of the only pictures we got at Whiskey's that night - sorry for blocking half of Sarah's face:
Next day was more of the same, except us girls got in some spa-ing while the boys went golfing. More shenanigans were had that night after dinner.  I love this crew:

We are so thankful to live where we do and have such great friends!  Ryan had the best weekend.  It was capped off by fishing while Drew watched:

Melt my heart.  Happy Birthday you big stud!

First Day of School - 2016

This year was a big year in the Skene household - both kids are now in school!  Drew was beyond ready for this next adventure:
No tears or nervousness whatsoever from this guy:
Believe it or not, Isla was the one who had the problem going to the first day of school:
Later we found out that she was running a temp that day.

Beyond excited to see what this school year has in store for us:
