Cecil & Hodgie with a side of Hot Nuts

The title of this post will make no sense unless you were a fly on the wall during our weekend in Sun Valley with the Kearneys and Karen.  Oh what fun times we had!  I don't think I have laughed that hard in a long time.  We began our weekend with a fun dinner at the Sawtooth Grill.  These girls were ready to partay:
After dinner we moseyed on over to the Cornerstone and randomly ran into this guy:
Sarah was really excited:
And we randomly ran into this guy too:
It was a crazy night and tons of fun.  I also discovered my new favorite drink - a blood orange margarita. So yummy!  Of course I have to post the late night shots:

I think that food saved us!  The next morning Sarah, Karen and I met the boys up at the mountain:
I should confess that us girls hadn't even been up on the mountain yet.  We had to enjoy our beer and bloody mary's first.  Priorities people! Unfortunately, we picked the worst day of the weekend to go skiing.  It was foggy and the snow was very heavy.  I think I got in a total of two runs.  Big bummer, but that meant we had more time to hang out in the lodge, enjoy some beverages and laugh til our sides hurt.  I had to get a picture of Sarah in her helmet.  She wouldn't take it off and it annoyed the heck out of Ryan K.  Safety first people:
Anna and Ryan S. thought it was funny and Ryan S. couldn't help but join in:
We decided to take it easy our last night and hang out at home playing pool, catch phrase and apples to apples.  Ryan K really got into it:
I, on the other hand, took a page out of Sarah's book and put safety first:
Last shot of the night, literally for Ryan K:
Thank you to our guests for joining us and making it a very memorable weekend!

Cooking and a Snow Day

This weekend we continued our recovery from the Holidays and spent some time in the kitchen cooking brownies. Isla was very eager to help in her fun apron:
Drew was very eager to sit on the floor and eat his crackers while Isla and Mommy cooked:
Unfortunately Isla woke us up late last night with a case of the pukes.  Poor thing didn't get much sleep last night (and neither did her Mommy), but woke up today feeling much better.  We decided to keep her home from daycare just in case and, fortunately, it just so happened that we got our first big snowfall of the year.  Isla and Mommy had a fun time playing out in the snow and building her first snowman.  We had to make sure that the snowman had a carrot nose:

Hank loved being out in the snow and even tried to steal the snowman's arms a couple of times:
Mr. Drew wasn't able to stay home with us and play in the snow, but he got to show off his new trick of standing up all by himself this evening.  This guy has taken a couple of wobbly steps, but just isn't ready to take off running yet:

So proud of himself!

Touchdown!

Over the past couple weeks our Drew man has grown a ton!  He is talking more and more and making us laugh at every turn.  This weekend he learned a new word while we were watching the NFL playoffs:

Going to the Chapel . . .

and we're gonna get married!  Okay, I'm not, but my sister is.  Aunt Anna is engaged!  We are so thrilled and so excited for Anna and Robert.  Cheers to the happy couple:
And cheers to the ring!  Nicely done Robert:

A Reckless New Year's Eve

And now the final post of the holiday week - New Year's Eve.  Early in the morning Ryan and cousin Drew took off to go skiing while I packed up the kids and dropped them off for the day and night at Grandma Connie and Papa Randy's house. After dropping the kids off I was able to join the boys on the mountain and try out my new snow skis from Connie and Randy (they were perfect!).  After skiing we headed back to KE's house and prepared for the night which included a pre-party at KE's followed by a Reckless Kelly concert at Whiskey Jacques!

Anna and I dressed up and ready to party:
The token cousins picture at the pre-party:
The sisters (GiGi and Aunt Margot) had to get their picture taken as well:
The remaining pictures are all from the concert and really don't need any caption. Fun was had by all, maybe a bit too much for some of us and, yes, the PBR can was glued to my hand all night:

Happy New Year! Can't wait to see what 2012 brings.

In Between Christmas and New Years

We had a lot of fun in between Christmas and New Years up in Sun Valley.  We had a hat/ugly Christmas attire/white elephant gift party, Isla went skiing (sort of) and the kids played with their new toys.

The hat/ugly Christmas attire/white elephant gift party with a side of fondue was a big hit with the family and the friends who were brave enough to attend.  I really didn't have ugly attire for the kids so I dressed them up for the party (notice Miss Sassy pants in this picture - I think she is going to give us a run for our money):
Isla actually got into the hat wearing part of the party.  My aunt has a huge storage bin full of hats that Isla loved going through.  Here are a couple she actually put on:

Drew wasn't really that into it, but we managed to put this hat on him without him noticing:
Ryan and I in our full ugly attire and party hats:
Ryan and cousin Drew:
The cooks (GiGi, Robert, Erica, Krista and Laura) in the kitchen:
Papa's outfit was perfect for him, all though he was the furthest thing from grumpy during this trip:
The white elephant gift part of the party did not disappoint.  Papa got a very appropriate gift that was promptly stolen by one of the cousins:
Cousin Erica ran away with the gift of the night.  I wish I would have been able to steal this gift, especially the hat:

Only in Idaho can you find these two items at a gas station.  After the gift opening we had to get one of the many cousins photos we took during the holiday week:
The rest of the week we laid low and prepared for our big night out on New Year's Eve.  Here are the boys eating lunch:
Isla and Drew played with their new toys:

We tried to get Isla out skiing again, but I think she got overwhelmed by the amount of people at Dollar mountain.  Instead she watched kids go up the magic carpet for about 20 minutes and then we went in to the lodge for a hot chocolate:

Ryan and I managed to get one (or three) drinks in at the Pioneer with the cousins.  I didn't manage to get all of the cousins into a picture, but I did get all the girl cousins (sorry Drew):
Next up - New Year's Eve.
