Isla Bean Swinging

Tonight we went to the park so Isla could try out the park swings for the first time. At first she wasn't so sure about it and was really more interested in what all the other kids were doing at the park, but then she realized that she actually liked it and had a good time. So good that she actually feel asleep in her stroller on the way home (this never happens!).

Isla Talking (more like screaming)

I took Isla down to the Boise Farmer's Market on Saturday and we had a nice time strolling around and looking at all the different vendors. Isla decided she liked it so much that she decided to "talk" about it while we were there. I have tried to describe Isla's "talking" before to people. It is more like screaming, but she is completely happy. I find it to be hysterical, but some people don't share my opinion. Well I got some interesting looks from people at the market. They would look around to see who was making the noise and then look at me as if to say "is your child all right?". I would just smile back and keep strolling along. Later that day I was finally able to capture some of her "talking" on video. It really doesn't do it justice, but it gives you a pretty good idea.

Riley the Cat and Peaches

Two new favorite things in Isla's life this week are our cat, Riley, and peaches. I love that almost every week Isla seems to be interested in something new - it is so much fun. Well Riley really isn't that fond of Isla (she is not really fond of anyone to be exact), but she puts up with Isla fairly well. All Isla wants to do is touch her and grab her tail:

Isla also decided this week that she likes Peaches. I have been trying to give them to her for some time now, but she usually puts them in her mouth and makes a sour face and spits it out. Not this time though - she devoured an entire peach in about five minutes:
Mom finally got smart and put a bib on her:

My first Mother's Day

Sorry I'm a little bit behind on my posts! Two weekends ago I celebrated my first Mother's Day and it was wonderful. My sister Anna came down for the weekend, it was absolutely beautiful weather and Isla was is in a great mood. My husband let me sleep in until 8:00 which is a special treat now that Isla is getting us up at 6:00 in the morning these days. Anna treated me to a wonderful Mother's Day lunch at Hawkin's Pac-out then we went on a walk with Isla to the park. Here are some photos from the fun day:
Isla sucking on her toes on the way to the park. I'm amazed that she can get those in her mouth:

Peek-a-Boo, Hanky and Mirrors

Seven months has turned out to be a very fun age with Miss Isla. She is more aware of everything around her and her personality is really starting to show. Two of her favorite things right now are playing peek-a-boo and watching Hank chase after his tennis ball. If she is fussy or crying we automatically play peek-a-boo or find Hank and the tears suddenly turn into smiles and giggles. Here is a video of her (sorry about how shaky it is - I was trying to play peek-a-boo and film her at the same time!):

Mirrors are another favorite as well. She loves to look at the little girl in the mirror and smile. Here are some pictures of her before bedtime tonight with her mirror:

Gotta love that Buddha belly! The only not so fun thing right now is the never ending ear infection. We have decided to go see a specialist (our appointment is at the end of the month) to find out about our options. I just feel so bad for her and none of the medication is helping. Hopefully we'll figure something out. I'll keep you posted.
