Seattle Bridal Weekend

This past weekend Isla and I flew over to Seattle to help Aunt Anna shop for her wedding dress and I am happy to report that we found her dress!  I really didn't take that many pictures as I (and Anna as well) want to keep the dress a secret.  I did get a photo of us dress shopping gals (Aunt KE, Krista, Anna and my Mom) right before we found the dress:
I think the mimosas helped!  We stayed with our great friends, the Bjarnsons, and every night we were treated to a gourmet meal with some outstanding wines. I will dream about these meals for awhile.  To top it off, we were greeted with this view every morning:
Not too shabby.  I don't think a "thank you" says enough for the treatment we got, but thank you Bjarnson family!  We love you and feel blessed to have such great family friends.

Miss Isla had a fun weekend while we were wedding dress shopping.  She got to go to the Aquarium with Papa and ride on a ferry boat.  On the way home she got a pair of wings from the flight attendant for being such a good flier:
AND she got to fly on the Bronco plane on the way home.  She talks about wanting to fly on this plane all the time so it was quite a treat (it's the little things I guess):
Isla was sooo tired from all the fun she had over the weekend that I found her passed out in her Dora tent about two hours after we got home:

Drew got to stay home this weekend and hang out with Dad.  He had fun "helping" Ryan put the dishes away:

Visit from Grandma

A couple of weeks ago Grandma Connie make a trip down to see the kids.  She brought a big puzzle for Isla:

I am so excited that Isla loves puzzles as I am a big fan myself!  She is really good and can put them together without any help.  Looks like she may have a nerdy side like her Mom.

Drew continued to perfect his walking skills:
Sorry the video is so shaky, but I think it is so cute when they are learning to walk.  I love how he is already running for the streets.  We're going to have to keep an eye on this one at all times!

Our Amazing Athlete

If you don't already know, Ryan and I are BIG sports fans and a couple of months ago Isla started taking a sports class at daycare called Amazing Athletes where she learns all different types of sports. I am so happy that she is following in our footsteps and absolutely loves her sports class. So far bawlyball (or volleyball) is her favorite, but tonight she came home talking about basketball and we couldn't help but drag out Drew's Christmas present (thanks Aunt Anna!) and shoot some hoop. Drew even got in on the action:
Not sure if you can tell in the video, but it looks like our daughter may be a lefty.  We are totally surprised by this as both Ryan and I are right handed. Might be soon to tell, but she sure does use it predominately when writing, coloring, cutting with scissors and playing sports.

Fevers, Flu and a Walker

The flu season hit the Skene household in full force last week.  First it was Isla who came down with a fever, then Drew, then Isla got better, then Ryan got the stomach flu, and then Isla got a fever again.  It was a doozy of a week.  The kids both ended up with ear infections, but after a couple days on antibiotics they are both on the mend.  Luckily I didn't get sick (knock on wood)!

During our week at home with Drew I was finally forced to realize that he is finally walking.  My baby is growing up and while I'm excited for this new chapter I'm sort of sad at the same time.  He needs to stay a baby just for a bit longer:
Here is a short video of him walking:
