Oh Boy!

Yep, that's right we're having a boy. I'm still trying to adjust to this since I totally thought we were having another girl. Ryan is so excited and had a feeling that it was boy since my side of the family was in desperate need of a boy (he's sorta right). We do feel very blessed to have two healthy babies! I have a feeling I'm going to start dressing Isla in more dresses and putting more bows in her hair since she will be my only girl. I am now off to shop for boy clothes as we have absolutely nothing for our little man.

We are off to Bellingham for the long weekend to see my parent's new place! I'll post pictures next week.

Sun and Snow

Wow, what a difference a week makes. It was only last Saturday that I was sitting by the pool in Palm Springs sweating in the 98 degree weather and now I'm in sweats and a sweatshirt watching it snow outside in Boise. I don't know about you, but I would take the warmer weather over the snow right now.

So last weekend I went down to Palm Springs for a girlfriend's bachelorette party and it was HOT. I was either in the shade or in the pool most of the time. Despite the heat, all of us girls had a fabulous time lounging by the pool, shopping and bar hopping. On Saturday night we went to the Parker Hotel (absolutely fabulous place where all the celebs stay), ate dinner at the Ace hotel (great place, laid back, reminds me of the Doug Fir in Portland, OR), and then went for drinks at couple of other great places (I have to blame my pregnancy brain as I am at a total loss for the names of the places right now).

Here are some of the girls lounging in the pool on Saturday:
We all stayed at my friend Holly's parent's house in Palm Springs. The house was amazing and right on one of the many golf courses. Here are some of the girls before we went out on Saturday night:

As a special treat on Saturday night we got to cruise around Palm Springs in Sara's late grandfathers 1992 Caddy (I really don't know the exact year, but you get the point)! We had a lot of comments and stares from people as the seven of us girls drove around Palm Springs that night. Here we are before big night out on the town:
I was the lucky chauffeur for the night:
I was also lucky enough to have a pregnant friend (Holly) with me on the trip. He we are at the Parker Hotel:

We all had a great time and I am so excited for Sara's wedding in July!

The Goose Egg

The weather was finally nice this weekend and we made sure we got outside as much as possible. It has taken way too long for spring to get here! Aunt Anna came down to visit this weekend and we took her, Ryan, Isla, Hank and Leo to the park to play. Ryan brought his basketball and Isla loved playing with it. Unfortunately I don't think Ryan got to play as much as he would have liked:Just prior to our walk to the park Isla had a little bit of a fall and received her first "Goose Egg". I think it's pretty good that it has taken this long for her to get one, but it was still so sad to see her get hurt. It happened pretty innocently. We were all outside in front of our house and she was sitting on one of the steps. I think she tried to get up and lost her balance and somehow did a face plant on the ground. She was pretty brave and cried only a few minutes before we distracted her with a trip to the park. Here is a picture of her first Goose Egg:
On a side note, I had a wonderful Mother's Day that was filled with a pedicure, chocolates and beautiful cards from Isla and Ryan that made me cry. I love being a Mommy!

Where did my baby Isla go?

This weekend we went to Charlotte Blaine's first birthday party/Kentucky Derby party and I got Isla all dressed up in a pretty dress and did her hair in pigtails (still fighting that darn mullet, all though I think it is going away). When I looked at Isla after she was all dolled up I had to do a double take, she was no longer my baby anymore. She looked so big and grown up it brought tears to my eyes. I think the pregnancy hormones may have had something to do with my emotions, but I can't believe how quickly the past 20 months have gone. Here is my little girl all dressed up for the party:
Posing with her Daddy:
At the birthday party, eating her snacks at the big table like everyone else:

To prove that she is getting closer to the "terrible" twos (although I have heard three is much worse) she now likes to boss our pets around the house. She follows Riley the cat everywhere saying "no, Riley"and she also likes to go up to Hank and say "move" for no apparent reason. Ryan and I have been working with her to be a little nicer to the pets. We have also graduated to the tantrums where she sobs while rolling around on the ground. They only last for about 30 seconds, but they are oh-so dramatic! Can't wait to see what the teenage years will bring.

All things considered Isla is a very good girl and we absolutely love her to pieces. I just can't get over how fast she has grown.
