Valentine's Ski Weekend - 2015

We decided to go with some homemade treats for our valentines this year.  Mostly because Isla loves to do stuff like this:
I think Isla may like this "Holiday" a bit more than yours truly.  She actually asked to get Drew a superman umbrella that he has been eyeing in the store and she made him a card:

It was the sweetest.  Not to be outdone though, Drew got Isla a Barbie for Valentine's Day.  Oh how I hope they are still this nice to each other as they get older!

We started Drew on ski lessons this month.  After our first session, not only did I not have any hope that we would have snow for the remainder of the month, (seriously look at the dirt in the parking lot at Bogus):
I didn't think Drew would make it the rest of the month.  We decided to keep on trying and took him up to Sun Valley for a long weekend full of skiing.  Come to find out, he loves skiing when he's not tired. This was a big milestone in the Skene household - nobody needed any help down the mountain!

The terrain park was his favorite (his laughs are my favorite):
Same video, but from a different angle (thanks Krista!):

Y-Ball - Isla

We signed Isla up for Y-Ball (basketball through the YMCA) this year to see if she had any interest in the sport.  So far, so good. I think she loves to be part of a team and really looks forward to her practice and games.  She even likes to stay after practice to work on shooting the basketball.  She is sooooo close to making a basket.

I have been so impressed with the YMCA and how they run the games.  There isn't much action, but it's still fun to watch:

If anything, being part of a team has helped Isla's self esteem.  She is not shy to get the basketball, dribble it down the court and shoot a basket.  Ryan and I are so proud of her!

January 2015

January was fairly chill for the Skene family.  Not too much was going on, which is nice after the crazy holiday season.

The kids were happy to be home and get back into a normal schedule:

Isla decided that she wanted to be more involved in her lunch making, which I was more than happy to pass along the task to her:
Ryan and I did a 21 day fix that took a lot of planning and organizing:
Apparently we needed it because both of us lost 10 lbs and 11.5 inches.

Isla got a lot of practice riding her new scooter home from school:

My parents flew over to watch the Super Bowl (I don't even want to talk about it) with us so Ryan and I took advantage of the free babysitting and went to see Eric Church:
Not only was the concert great, but there was a ton of fantastic people watching at this show.  Lots of bedazzled jeans worn by both guys and girls.

Isla also started her basketball practice for Y-ball:

More to come on her games . . .

Christmas 2014

We celebrated Christmas Eve and Christmas morning with just our family again this year in Boise before heading up to celebrate with the masses in Sun Valley.

Isla wanted her hair nice and curly for Christmas so we put some curlers in her hair the night before. She looks way to grown up for me in this pic:
Santa came!:
And the kids ripped through their presents in about .02 seconds on Christmas morning:
Due to Mack's need to be in Isla's pocket:
I had to watch this view on my way up to Sun Valley:
Not cool, but whatevs.

We celebrated Christmas at KE's with an ugly sweater party:

Then the rest of the week we spent playing with our new toys:

Skiing:

Sledding:

Hot tubing:
Putting a huge puzzle together:
We basically lived the mountain life for a week which is something I could definitely get used to if it weren't for the fact that I need to make money to pay for it.
Ryan and I got away for a Mickey and the Motorcars concert:
And we got lots and lots of family time:

Before Christmas

I think I have been delaying my posts because I have been a horrible picture taker lately.  Not much photos from December for the Christmas season, but I'll work with what I have.

We decorated the house quite early this year mostly because we were bored.  The kids got a kick out of decorating their Dad (not sure why Isla is wearing shorts and Ryan is in a t-shirt - this was December?):

Ryan went on a ski weekend with a large group of guys and I stayed home with the kids and went to a party solo.  I found some good friends to goof around with though:

And of course we did the gingerbread house decorating with the kids - in their pajamas.  Not much candy was left to decorate, but I thought they actually did a good job this year:

Seriously - that was all I had for the "before" Christmas photos.  Lame.
