Austin, TX

This weekend Ryan and I ventured down to Austin, TX for a friend's wedding. Neither of us had been down there before and have heard nothing but great things about it so when we found out our friend was getting married down there we jumped at the chance to go down and check it out. We arrived on Thursday night and went out to dinner with the groom. On Friday we explored downtown Austin.

Picture of Ryan at the restaurant we had lunch at on 6th St. 6th St is famous for it's nightlife and live music. Unfortunately we weren't able to get down there at night to experience it! We will definitely have to go back when I'm not pregnant so we both can enjoy it. Here is a shot looking down 6th St.

Friday night we had the awesome opportunity to see one of Ryan's (and mine) favorite bands, Reckless Kelly, play. They played at an awesome outdoor venue called Nutty Brown. It reminded us of an outdoor BBQ. We had a great time seeing Reckless play in Austin where they have a large following. Here are some shots of the venue and concert.

(FYI the drink I'm holding is a virgin margarita. Definitely not the same, but what's a pregnant lady to do?) The people watching at this venue was priceless! Welcome to Texas! During the opening band Ryan and I were very entertained with our friend Mr. Ray Suneagle who was sitting in front of us (the opening band wasn't that great).

Ray and his lady friend had some killer dance moves (they really did!) and it was fun watching them cut a rug.

On Saturday we attended the wedding or our friend's Andy and Natalie. The reception was held at this beautiful place called Barr Mansion. The grounds included a house and then a big barn in the back where they had the food, drinks, and dancing. It was absolutely stunning! I included a picture of the groom's cake for you to see how hideous it was (Andy went to WSU). Sorry Dad, but I had to have some - it was chocolate and I was desperately craving it!

You gotta love the pregnant lady with not one, but two drinks. I'm holding Ryan's beer and, yes, that is my wine. I couldn't resist - it was Red Diamond and the two ounces I had tasted wonderful! So in all of the pictures we took of the Bride and Groom - none of them turned out! Take it from me, the bride looked absolutely stunning and the groom, besides being a coug, looked very nice.
